Growing Magic Mushrooms
McKenna and his brother Dennis developed a method for cultivating psilocybin mushrooms using spores they brought to America from the Amazon. In 1976, the brothers posted what they had found out in a book entitled Psilocybin: Magic Mushroom Grower’s Guide. McKenna and his brother had been the first to develop a reliable method for cultivating psilocybin mushrooms at home. The new process worried the use of regular kitchen implements. For the first time, they have been able to produce a mighty entheogen in their own home without getting admission to sophisticated technology, equipment, or chemical supplies. When the 1986 revised version was published, the Magic Mushroom Grower’s Guide had sold over 100,000 copies.
